LoC flare up: 5yr-old girl, BSF officer killed in Poonch | KNO

Jammu, April 01 (KNO) : A five-year-old girl and a Border Security Force (BSF) officer were killed while ten others including five forces personnel and civilians each were injured as India and Pakistan armies pounded each other with firepower along line of control in Poonch district. Five-year-old Sobia was killed after getting injured in the shelling from across the Line of Control, BSF spokesman said, adding that an Inspector of BSF was also killed in the shelling. India and Pakistan armies exchanged gunfire along line of control in Shahpur and Kerni sectors in District Poonch, officials said. According to KNO correspondent, officials said that Pakistan resorted to ceasefire violation by opening mortar shelling and small arms gunfire. "Indian Army retaliated in befitting manner," officials said, adding that some of these mortar shells fired by Pakistan landed in the residential area in Mankote damaging two houses. Following LOC flare up in Poonch, authorities order closure of schools in parts of the district. Class work was suspended falling in shelling range in Shahpur, Mandaar, Kirni, partially Qasba including HSS Islamabad, an order was issued by DDC/CEO Poonch said.(KNO)
